No Reply to Job Applications in Austria?

You sent an application for a job advert, but no answer came back. Check the facts, ask once and keep looking for fresh roles.

A company may need time to read each application. The role may still be open. A short follow-up can help you find out what comes next.

Three steps you can take

1

Keep a copy of the advert

Save the role, date and employer name. Check that the online form went through and look for an email receipt.

2

Ask for a status update

The AMS has advice about when and how to follow up. Do not send daily messages. Be calm, clear and polite.

3

Keep searching

Use AMS job tools and check firms in your area. If a new advert fits your skills, do not wait for the first employer to reply.

What matters in your job market

If you receive support from the AMS, keep to its official rules for meetings and job search proof. A private job tracker does not replace these duties.

Keep a simple list of job adverts, dates and employer names. Save any receipt from a company portal. The AMS has advice on when a follow-up is useful, so read that before you send a new note. If you have an AMS appointment or job search duty, keep to the official dates and rules. While waiting for one firm, compare new adverts nearby. You can often use the same skills in more than one workplace or trade.

One common question

Does silence mean I was rejected?

Not for sure. Ask politely when enough time has passed. Continue your search while you wait.

Show your skills with TalentCard

A TalentCard gives an employer a link to your work skills. It can support an application, not force a reply.

A TalentCard does not promise a job. Employers and search services make their own decisions.
